YOU CAN’T DROWN THE LOUD SOUND! is a benefit for Brooklyn’s own Norton Records who suffered catastrophic damages due to Superstorm Sandy flooding of their warehouse in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn. As part of The Mash, Brooklyn Brewery is bringing Norton bands The A-Bones (with Ira Kaplan from Yo La Tengo and original sax player Lars Espensen) and Daddy Long Legs to Nashville to pair up with seasoned Nashville garage rockers The Ettes and newcomers Weekend Babes.

THE A-BONES
The A-Bones are Billy Miller (vocals), Bruce Bennett (guitar), Miriam Linna (drums) and Marcus “The Carcass” Natale, along with Ira Kaplan piano and guitar) and Lars Espensen, the band’s original sax player who returns to the lineup for the first time in over three years.

DADDY LONG LEGS
Daddy Long Legs, named for its frontman – the harp-blowing, blues-bellowing Daddy Long Legs himself – is joined by a slide-guitarist Murat Aktürk and NYC trap master Josh Styles who attacks his kit with a whip and a maraca. Recently they backed the R&B soul singer T. Valentine on the Norton Records release  THE VAMPIRE and have since taken the East Coast by storm, cutting through the mediocrity, directly into the meat of real music – from the hip and to the heart.

THE ETTES
Serving up a sexy but undeniably fierce mix of pop smarts and garage rock power, the Ettes are vocalist/guitarist Lindsay "Coco" Hames, drummer Maria "Poni" Silver, and bassist Jeremy "Jem" Cohen, a trio of New Yorkers who became Los Angelenos before making Nashville home. The band formed in 2004 and soon won a following for its mix of Nancy Sinatra style, Patsy Clinetwang, and Stonesy rock.

WEEKEND BABES
Local darlings who recently stole the show at Nashville’s Dead FREAKIN WEEKEND IV, Weekend Babes have a 100% Norton Sound taken straight out of high school hallways.

NORTON RECORDS & SUPERSTORM SANDY
On October 29 of last year, the Norton Records warehouse in Red Hook, Brooklyn was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy. Nearly a quarter of a million records were submerged by six feet of water. Also damaged were musical instruments, master tapes, over one hundred thousand spare record jackets, thousands of vintage paperbacks, magazines, photographs, posters as well as Norton artist files and correspondences going back thirty years. The entire stock of Kicks Books, Norton’s book publishing subsidiary was totally destroyed.

Thanks to the incredible number of volunteers who have helped since the hurricane with cleaning and refurbishing Norton vinyl and many worldwide fan-sponsored benefits and radio specials, the label is reprinting jackets and repressing records with the plan of repressing the entire Norton back catalog.

Norton is the home of the Sonics, Hasil Adkins, Esquerita, Bobby Fuller, Link Wray, Sun Ra, Question Mark and the Mysterians, the Ramones, Mary Weiss of the Shangri-Las, Big Star, Dale Hawkins, the Dictators, Roky Erickson, Kim Fowley Andre Williams, Flamin Groovies, Gino Washington, the Real Kids, Nathaniel Mayer, New York Dolls and many, many more.
