Local 2 Ways is a multi-course beer dinner that brings together two different culinary minds for one memorable meal. Let's meet those minds -- it turns out they have more in common than we thought.
Chef/owner Josh Hershkovitz was the former head of Slow Food Baltimore where his desire to lead was born out of a love for old world methods and the idea that mealtime is something to be relished and enjoyed, not raced through. Josh prefers one fewer to one too many ingredients and in the end, his food is about working with his hands. At Hersh's you'll find locally sourced food but Josh's real passion is in creating from scratch - from hand rolled pasta to breads to cheese to various salumi you'll find that loving homemade touch throughout the menu.
Brooklyn Brewery House Chef Andrew Gerson also has the Mediterranean and Slow Food connection. He spent 10 years in kitchens on both sides of the pond, advocating for food trucks, running his own pasta company and getting his Masters in Food Communication from the University of Gastronomic Sciencs in Pollenzo, Italy -- which is run by the founder of Slow Food. Now Andrew travels the country under the Brooklyn Brewery banner, cooking and pairing with beer.
For The Mash's first Charm City edition, these two talented chefs will combine their powers for good. Locally sourced and collaboratively constructed, this beer dinner will also benefit Boston Slow Food.
